Welcome, lovely reader!

I first started writing my first recipe blog 12 years ago, and so much has happened since then. In the beginning, I called this space Petite Kitchen named after the tiny art deco apartment we were living in at the time. It was a journal of sorts, inspired by my daughter Bella and my mission to heal her health issues naturally through whole foods and holistic living.

What followed was a whirlwind couple of years. My first two cookbooks became number-one best sellers and were translated into multiple languages. Furthermore, I fulfilled a lifelong dream and co-founded a Metro top 50 Auckland Cafe called Mondays. During this time, I also had the opportunity to write for some fantastic publications such as VIVA - The New Zealand Herald, The Telegraph and The Guardian.

Despite being at the top of my career, I felt a sudden yearning to slow down and enjoy a calmer way of life, this was found in our new home in the wild west coast surf town of Piha Beach. Shedding unnecessary clutter and adopting a simpler style of living, I’ve since found myself with far more time and energy to appreciate those I love, and the small, beautiful pleasures in life (namely, my childhood love of surfing!).

7 books, and 5 online cookery courses later, you’ll still find me pottering around in my kitchen, creating delicious food to eat.

My philosophy has always been relaxed and straightforward when it comes to cooking. I believe food can make us feel joyful, energetic and nourished and this doesn't mean I spend hours on end making fancy, extravagant or expensive dishes – in fact, it's quite the opposite. This simple approach is what more than 50,000 readers around the world have come to follow and enjoy.

Eleanor’s Petite Kitchen is my newest online home, and I’d love it to be one of yours too. Love, Eleanor x
